Highlights  - end 2012

General

2012 was a good year for O plc. Business education is now a large part of the activity with courses in 3 reputable Swiss and in the most famous Ukrainian Business Schools. In addition Alain HAUT was invited to be keynote speaker on the subject of Talent Management (a growing international reputation on this subject was gained through his teaching at the Lorange Institute) in the annual conference organised for Top Procurement Executives. There were also and again 3 international assignments in business education certification.  Executive search consulting needed a structural adaptation and is now set up for further growth. The performance and change/transition consulting activities have opened the door to an interesting long haul project with a Non-Governmental Organisation. And finally, Alain HAUT bought an existing business in the field of cross-cultural management and mobility training/coaching that he will manage as of the new year.

Training in cross-cultural management and mobility

As of January 8, 2013, Alain HAUT will complement O plc consulting and business education activities through the company specialised in the field that he recently bought: Kamelion World (www.kamelionworld.com) has 10 years of activity in intercultural management, the last 5 under their current name. They are recognised as the client specific  solution company in the field, operate with a network of more than 20 specialised consultants located on 6 continents and have an interesting portfolio of large multinational companies form various international origins.

Executive search

Circumstances forced O plc to re-engineer its executive search activity. O plc US historical partner withdrew from international activities. Accordingly, O plc had to find an alternative that would provide an equally efficient back office research activity within the Life Sciences Industry. This was indispensable to sustain the 2 searches successfully completed in 2012 (Director of Divisional Sales Europe, Head of Product Support) for an international medical supply company, and another one (Head of Laboratory) for an international clinical services company. O plc selected new partner is HTI (www.hti-consulting.com), a Paris-based company with 15 years of progressive development and recognition in the international healthcare industry. Not only is HTI research back office of impressive quality but HTI-O plc cooperation has also materialised in the recruitment of a former executive search colleague joining O plc to develop the pharmaceutical and biotech HTI business in Switzerland and on a pan-European basis.

Performance and change/transition management consulting

A little bit on the “back burner” during 2011, O plc consulting activities in performance, leadership and change did enjoy a significant positive turn in September: O plc  has been contracted for a long-haul project of culture change for a Geneva-based Non-Governmental Organisation. This is a unique opportunity for O plc to gain insight into a sector of activity where its current experience was so far limited, with the notable exception of a training assignment with a specific division of the EU Office of Internal Affairs. Coaching and training are on the agenda and this promises to be an exciting undertaking.

Business education and Public speaking

Alain HAUT is now a well-established professor with the Business School of Lausanne (BSL) where he teaches 5 courses at the BBA level and 2 courses at the Master level. He is also a regular professor at the University of Business and International Studies (UBIS), on-site in Geneva and on-line (and potentially on –site) with their foreign correspondent universities (USA, Vietnam, Tunisia, Nigeria). Courses cover Leadership, Human Resources Management and International Business. He is also in charge of the module of “Current issues in Human Capital Management” of the DBA programme at the International Management Institute in Kiev, the #1 business school in Ukraine. Alain HAUT is as well Visiting Professor in charge of the Talent Management module at the Lorange Institute in Zurich (founded and managed by Peter Lorange, recognised in 2012 as one of the Top 5 management strategy influencers of the last 20 years).

Education certification by the European Foundation for Management Development

Since 1997, EFMD has designed an international process to provide the framework of a truly international quality assessment scheme to combine the need for commonly agreed standards with the need to respect the diversity of national systems . EQUIS is the quality certification for Business Schools and EPAS is the quality certification for business education programmes.  Certifications are granted after a very serious Peers Review (PR) of several days: the international PR team is made of 3 distinguished academic Deans of other business schools plus one « corporate reviewer » with large experience in the recruitment of Business (post-)graduates. In 2012, Alain HAUT participated in the EPAS reviews for the Master of International Business programme of the University of  Salford/Manchester (UK) and the “Grande Ecole Master Programme” for the Ecole Supérieure de Commerce of Montpellier (France). He also participated in the EQUIS review of the world famous Nijenrode Business School (The Netherlands). Since his appointment as a Peer Reviewer in late 2010, Alain has therefore participated in 5 EPAS and 2 EQUIS reviews.

The FutureWork Forum

With over 20 partners in all parts of the world, the FutureWork Forum founded in 2003 is an independent global think-tank working with senior management in public and private organisations. Alain HAUT has been again an active member In 2012, more specifically in terms of relationships with UBIS and Lorange Institute (FWF is acting as one research arm for those 2 business schools where he teaches).
